Aga Gurbin is Head of English as an Additional Language (EAL) at d’Overbroeck’s College, Oxford, UK
She is responsible for the quality of delivery of EAL teaching in both the International Section (Y9-Y11) as well as in the Sixth Form (Y12, Y13). Having accumulated acute insights into teaching methodology throughout her 13 years as a teacher in an array of different educational sectors (public mainstream schools, language schools and universities), Aga often holds training sessions for teachers at d’Overbroeck’s. Aga is Delta-qualified and graduated from Silesian University with a PhD in Humanities and an MA in English language and literature. She also holds a BA in Linguistics, a diploma in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) accreditation. She was also a coordinator for various European educational programmes (Comenius, Erasmus). Aga’s areas of interest include: curriculum design and development, educational technology, teacher training and innovative learning.

d’Overbroeck’s is a leading independent, co-educational day and boarding school located in north Oxford. The school is made up of 3 parts:
· Years 7 to 11 — for students aged 11–16. Day students only.
· Sixth Form — teaching A-levels to international students aged 16+. Full and weekly boarding available. Around 50% of Sixth Form students are international.
· The International School — delivering pre-IGCSE and IGCSE programmes to international students aged 11-16. Study Abroad is also available.
d’Overbroeck’s was establised in 1977 and since then we have built a very strong reputation for our distinctive and highly successful ethos as well as for the excellence of our educational provision. In 2020, our students achieved excellent grades, with 65% of A-Level grades awarded A*/A, 68% of GCSE grades awarded 9-7 and 62% of IGCSE grades awarded 9-7.
In 2019, we were ranked as the top school in Oxfordshire and in the top 1% of schools in England for progress at A-Level for the 3rd year running, demonstrating outstanding added-value for all our Sixth Form students.
